Spiritual Renewal

Spiritual Renewal – Renewing the Mind
by Joshua Law
Regeneration of the Mind
In physical birth we have Parents, Life, we are Heir, we have a Mind, Human Nature, but in our Spiritual birth, we got God as our Father, Eternal Life, All Things in Glory, Renewed Mind (Spirit) and we are partaker of Divine Nature.

As a human being, we are composed of three parts: spirit, soul and body.

Spirit:
For “Spirit” in Scripture, the word “Mind” is used. (See three part of man) Also how it is used in I Cor. 2:14 and Eph. 4.

I Thes. 5:23
5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Two Kinds of Men: I Corinthians 2:14-16
1. The Natural Man. I Corinthians 2:14 this is the soulish man – the unbeliever.
2. Spiritual Man. I Corinthians 2:15-16

Natural Man and Spiritual Man
I Cor. 2:14-16
2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

v. 16 the word “instruct” should have been translated in Greek (“sumbibazo” — pronounced: soom-bib-ad’-zoas, means to knit together, compact together, pack together, come together.) – “who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? (The one who are knit together) But we have the mind (Spirit) of Christ.

SPIRIT & Mind are related to one another, they are of the same sphere. (The brain is not the mind, but the brain is a filling cabinet. The brain is part of the body the mind uses.)
SOUL: The soul refers to emotion and feeling. (I King 17:17)
BODY: Note: Eph 1:14/Eph. 4:30/Rom 8:23 Redemption of Body.
Mind: part of you that is the intellect through which we can know things, part of you that come to understand things that is apart from feeling, but part of the intellect.
Heart of Man: That part which is a common part of the Sprit, Body and Soul.

So you would know what happens in Regeneration.
Spirit, Body and Soul come together sharing a common ground. The common ground is called the heart of man. All these (Spirit, Body and Soul) make up together (knit together) to form the heart of man (Rom. 10:9,10 – with the heart unto salvation.) Salvation is not based on feeling (soul) only.

Romans 10:9,10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Soul:

I Peter 1:7-9; 21,22
1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Receiving the salvation of your soul, v.9
Vs. 21-22 This is what we should be doing. Purifying our Soul, while we are waiting. (with faith and hope waiting for redemption.)

1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

I Cor. 6:16-17 – We are joined unto the Lord and we are made one with the Spirit of the Lord (We are united with the Lord) See Col 2:2,3.
I Cor. 6:16-17
6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
Col 2:2,3
2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Note: We are knit together with Christ (“sumbibazo”)

What happens to our mind in Regeneration? We receive a renewed mind at Spiritual Birth. (Our mind was renewed at Spiritual Birth with Christ. Key passage, Rom 12:2; I Cor. 6:17

Rom 12:2
12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I Cor. 6:17 (above)
Note: Rom. 12:2 Our mind has been joined, compacted, with the mind of Christ.
I Cor. 2:16
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Rom 12:2
12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.

It is not feeling, but the Word of God – obedient to the Word will renew your mind. Also the Word will purify your soul. In order to renew your mind, the Word of God must be functioning and obeyed to the renewing of your mind. This will renew your mind and cleanse your life.

Body Key passage concerning Redemption of the body:

Rom. 8:23
8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Eph. 4:22,23.
4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Note: v. 23 “and be” should be “in so much as” – Your mind joined with the mind of Christ, you have power to yield to the Holy Spirit, you can point to the Holy Spirit to overcome temptation because of your renewed mind.

Filling Ministry of the Holy Spirit. Eph. 5:18

Eph. 5:18
5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

This is a command given unto Christians. This is only a command to be “Filled”.
Filling Ministry did not happen at salvation, at salvation when you first believed, The Holy Spirit enters your heart. But in Filling, you are responsible for the Filling up from within.
Note: There is no such thing in Scripture as “IN_FILLING” of the Holy Spirit. But there are in-dwelling from without to within) which happens at the moment you believed in Jesus. This is not the same as in “pouring upon” (Acts 2:33; Rom. 5:5; Titus 3:6) of the Holy Spirit.) The scripture uses “pour upon” instead when the Holy Spirit engulfs the believer and when the person believes, the Holy spirit will enter the believer’s heart.

Definition:
John 16:6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
Note: Background scripture is John 14. This passage refers to that sorrow hath “filled” their heart (from within). What happens when sorrow filled one’s heart? One doesn’t look the same; doesn’t walk the same, influence is not the same with anyone.
